ARTstor is now actively collaborating with a wide range of living artists and estates of modern artists. An especially productive collaboration with artist Elizabeth Peyton has allowed us to add to the ARTstor Digital Library images of 173 works by this remarkable contemporary American painter and draughtsman. Peyton, who has emerged as one of the most remarkable artists of her generation, is best known for her intimate figurative portraits of youthful romantic individuals ranging from friends to historical figures such as Napolean to music celebrities. Peyton’s ability to draw the viewer in has been described as a product of her own fascination and curiosity about the figures she chooses. They are stylish in a timeless way and are captured at moments in their lives when they stand for their own ideals of independence, beauty, and artistry.
