Artstor User Services Assistant Director Rebecca Shows is organizing “Applying Visual Resources Expertise Beyond Art History,” March 12, 1:35-2:55 PM; Senior Implementation Manager Elizabeth Berenz is moderating “Collaborating with Faculty: Building Special VR Collections” on March 12, 3:05-4:25 PM; Deputy General Counsel Cara Hirsch and Director of Metadata and Cataloging Dustin Wees are taking part in “Know Your DAM Rights” on March 13, 1:35-2:55 PM; President James Shulman and Elizabeth Berenz are leading a Shared Shelf User Group on March 14, 1:35-2:55 PM; and James Shulman, Rebecca Shows, and Collection Development Manager Ian McDermott are conducting an Artstor Digital Library User Group on March 14, 3:05-4:25 PM.
Electronic Resources and Libraries (ER&L)
Siân Evans, Shared Shelf Implementation Manager, is moderating “Collaborative Cataloging” with Amy Ballmer, coordinator of instruction at the Graduate Center, CUNY. The session will highlight several innovative projects that seek to enhance the discoverability of special collections and artist publications through cataloging collaborations between librarians, content creators, and scholars. Panelists include Vickie O’Riordan, head of Digital and Technical Services at UC San Diego, Susanna Boylston, art librarian at Davidson College, and Lucie Stylianopolous, head of the Arts Libraries at the University of Virginia (UVA). Evans and Ballmer are also discussing their project exploring alternatives to indexing small press and avant-garde journals through expert tagging and similar crowd-sourced techniques.
NorthEast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP)
Artstor President James Shulman is taking part in NERCOMP’s poster sessions. Shulman will demonstrate how, in addition to outstanding images and reliable data from some of the world’s finest museums, photo archives, and libraries, Artstor offers the tools to upload and catalog digital collections managed by your library, academic departments, or faculty members.
