Artstor and Statens Museum for Kunst have made available 160 images of highlights from the museum’s collections of Paintings and Sculptures and Graphic Art in the Digital Library. The release includes works by artists such as Lucas Cranach the Elder, Rembrandt, Christen Købke, Vilhelm Hammershøi, and Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. The images are also made available for remix and reuse in both commercial and non-commercial purposes, for example for use in print publications, under a Creative Commons Attribution license.
Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK), the National Gallery of Denmark, collects art, primarily Danish, dating from the 14th century till the present day. The museum’s collections constitute approximately 10,500 paintings and sculptures, 245,000 works of art on paper, as well as 2,500 plaster casts of figures from ancient times, the middle ages and the Renaissance. The major part of the museum’s older collections comes from the art chambers of Danish kings.
